With a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degrees in Biology and Ecology from the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University, I have extensive experience in forest restoration and research in biodiversity. While undertaking my Master’s degree, I received research funding from the Biodiversity Research and Training Programme and presented my research paper in Perth, Australia.
I am now a member of the environmental project of Chiang Mai City called Keaw Suay Homm, which aims to promote the conservation of nature through a series of workshops, training and city tours. Another area of my work is to create a social enterprise, “Keaw Suay Homm Organic Fertilizer”, which utilizes organic waste, with the support of E-idea and other local associate partners.

The Chiang Mai Green City Project or Chiang Mai Keaw Suay Homm Project aims to promote the city as a “green cultural city” and a comfortable place to live. A variety of government and non- government organizations are cooperating as partners for the project. Critical environmental problems, such as waste overload, inappropriate management and smog are not caused by one factor, and, thus, collaboration and social responsibility are the keys to the success of our project. The social enterprise “Keaw Suay Homm Organic Fertilizer” is looking to develop fertilizer from organic waste, using a technique from a famous local researcher, to generate income for supporting social activities. The enterprise provides an opportunity for people from Chiang Mai to become involved in tackling critical environment issues by participating in the Keaw Suay Homm Organic Fertilizer project.

Chiang Mai is a significant tourism centre and the second biggest city of Thailand. However, smog caused by organic waste burning is an important problem, leading to health and economic problems. Chiang Mai municipality is responsible for the waste management process, and their survey showed that organic waste makes up 40% of the total waste collected. Our concept is to transform organic waste into compost fertilizer through the use of an air filter system. The waste will be collected by the Chiang Mai municipality from households, and private companies will support the fertilizer production and an education centre in the city. We aim to set up a social enterprise “Keaw Suay Homm” to provide income support for current and future activities, so that the Chiang Mai Green City Project can be self-sustaining.
E-idea provides our new generation leaders capacity building opportunities, especially in the areas of publicity and project management, which will lead to an increased possibility for the success and future sustainability of the project. Moreover, through the opportunity to meet and share ideas with people with similar aims, we can promote our project and vision more widely at the national and international levels. E-idea will also provide opportunities for exchanging new experiences and technologies that will motivate new innovation and for creating networks that can create future projects across national borders.
